In celebration of six years of successful
performances and growth, OurSong is ecstatic to announce the
production of a new CD, entitled "Out of a Dream", which was
accompanied by our annual June Concert held at Emory University on
June 20 and 21, 2008. With selections of audience favorites, the CD
is a retrospective of material performed over the last six years.
"Out of a Dream" refers to our dream of creating OurSong more than
seven years ago.
The CD offers selections from OurSong’s most popular
performances from its repertoire including pieces as diverse as a
swing arrangement of “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” from Rogers and
Hammerstein’s musical “Carousel,” Loreena McKennitt’s “Tango to
Evora,” the Hoagy Carmichael classic, “Georgia On My Mind,” and
“Breath of Heaven” by Chris Eaton and Amy Grant.
The most symbolic
piece, however, is a musical interpretation of Pulitzer
Prize-winning poet Sara Teasdale’s poem, “There Will Be Rest.” Its
performance signifies the culmination of OurSong’s dream of making a
mixed chorus that promotes the talent within the GLBT community. In
addition, a lyric from the piece became the name of the concert and
CD.
